The Franchise Head for R&I Biologics (Severe asthma, Lupus & RSV) is accountable for defining, adapting, and executing the franchise’s strategic vision, ensuring leadership of AstraZeneca’s within relevant markets we compete with each brand. This role drives sustainable growth, shapes market access, and ensures flawless execution of launches and lifecycle management, positioning R&I biologics portfolio as one of most strategic drivers of growth for R&I unit and AZ cluster Andino.The incumbent leads a cross-functional team (CFT) across marketing, medical, market access, finance, regulatory, legal, compliance, PSP, and sales, ensuring strong alignment with corporate and regional priorities for each brand.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the long-term franchise strategy for severe asthma portfolio, Lupus and life-cycle management of RSV aligned with global and international priorities.
Cross-Functional Team Leadership: Orchestrate a multidisciplinary team (medical, marketing, market access, sales, PSP, finance, regulatory, etc.) to deliver integrated brand plans and operational excellence.
Market Access & Policy: Partner with government affairs and access teams to influence on policies, secure optimalaccess and reimbursement, and accelerate time-to-patient.
Brand & Portfolio Management: Oversee launches, promotional strategy, and lifecycle management, ensuring leadership positioning in competitive markets.
External Engagement: Build strong relationships with Key External Experts (KEEs), scientific societies, and patient associations to shape treatment paradigms and position AstraZeneca as the partner of choice in severe asthma, Lupus and RSV.
Commercial Excellence: Drive sales effectiveness through coaching, scientific engagement, and adoption of the leadership selling model.
P&L Accountability: Ensure financial sustainability by managing budgets, demand forecasting, and profitability decisions for the R&I biologicsfranchise.
Talent & Culture: Attract, develop, and retain top talent, fostering a high-performance, patient-centric culture within the franchise.
Governance & Compliance: Safeguard compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and pharmacovigilance requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Proven track record of success in highcostor specialty care (solid experience in commercial/marketing/access roles, with at least 5 years in leadership).
Demonstrated success in launching highcost / specialty care products and shaping market access in complex healthcare systems.
Strong business acumen, with experience managing P&L, strategic planning, and portfolio expansion.
Deep knowledge of biologics / specialty caremarkets dynamics, treatment pathways, and stakeholder networks.
Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels internally and externally.
Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and decision-making abilities in high-pressure environments.
Experience in Peruvian and Ecuadorian markets is desirable.
Strong digital skills (Teams, Copilot, AZChatGPT, PowerPoint, Power BI)
Education
University degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or Business-related field (advanced degree desirable).
MBA or postgraduate studies in business, health economics, or related areas is a strong plus.
Fluency in English required,additional languages desirable.
